Orezone Gold Corporation has reported significant high-grade gold intercepts from its ongoing exploration campaign at the Bomboré Gold Mine in Burkina Faso. Key drill results include 2.55 g/t Au over 23.00m and 1.14 g/t Au over 29.50m, with mineralization extending 100m to 250m below the current reserve pits along an 800m strike length. These findings highlight the potential to expand the resource base from the current 5.1 million gold ounces to a targeted 7 to 10 million ounces, extending the life of mine pits and increasing future production. The company is accelerating its Phase I exploration campaign, planning a 30,000m drill program for 2025.
The exploration has identified higher-grade sub-zones, particularly in the North Zone Footwall and North Zone Hill, which could transition to underground mining beneath existing open pits. This would enhance the operating head grade and overall production profile. Initial drilling at North Zone Hill revealed high-grade intercepts such as 8.75 g/t Au over 7.20m, while follow-up drilling aims to further delineate these zones. Similar efforts are underway at the P16 and P17S deposits, where historical high-grade intercepts suggest significant potential for resource expansion.
Orezone’s exploration success, combined with its ongoing production expansion, positions the company for substantial growth. The Bomboré mine, which achieved commercial production in December 2022, is focused on a staged hard rock expansion to increase annual and life-of-mine gold production.
